Miami-Dade County Injury Surveillance System (MDCISS)
The MDCISS was developed between 2004-06 to obtain relevant, accurate and timely information on the magnitude of fatal and nonfatal injuries that occur to Miami-Dade residents. The aim of MDCISS is to provide data that can be used to facilitate injury prevention programs and measure their effectiveness. This project is a collaborative effort of the Miami-Dade County Health Department, the Injury Free Coalition for Kids® of Miami, the University of Miami and Jackson Health Systems. MDCISS acquires both raw data from a variety of sources or references data posted on a source's website to describe the magnitude of the injury problem in the county. These sources include:
