About Chronic Disease



Chronic diseases are incurable and are among the most prevalent, costly and preventable of health problems. Thousands of Floridians die due to chronic disease each year with six of the ten leading causes of death relating to chronic disease.
  • The most prevalent chronic diseases are heart disease, stroke, cancer and diabetes.

  • Arthritis is a chronic disease that has a long-term impact on many of our citizens including extended pain and disability.

  • It is estimated that 1% of the population are people with epilepsy.
